Setup

Installation guide

Six steps from prerequisites to a verified, policy-controlled workstation.

  1. 1 โ€” Check prerequisites

    Windows 10 or 11 (x64), 4 GB RAM, 500 MB free disk, local administrator rights for installation.

  2. 2 โ€” Download the installer

    Download the current Latest Stable Windows build from the download button on this page, then verify the published SHA-256 checksum before running it.

  3. 3 โ€” Install

    Run the MSI interactively, or silently for managed workstations: msiexec /i Veridexa-Desktop-Agent.msi /qn

  4. 4 โ€” Apply machine policy

    Place the policy JSON in the machine policy path at install time. Policy is authoritative and fail-closed.

  5. 5 โ€” Activate the licence

    Start the agent and activate the machine-bound licence. Activation binds the licence to the workstation.

  6. 6 โ€” Verify devices

    Open Device Manager inside the agent and run discovery and diagnostics to confirm every attached device reports healthy.

The agent ships no kernel drivers. Devices use in-box Windows drivers or the vendor package listed below.

No Veridexa driver is required. Windows 10/11 ships the in-box USB Video Class driver.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms are supported?

Windows is the primary target. macOS and Linux implement the same platform contract and are planned for a later release.

Does the agent need a permanent internet connection?

No. The agent operates offline within the allowance set by machine policy and queues reports in a durable outbox until connectivity returns.

How is the agent deployed across an organisation?

Silently, through the MSI with machine policy supplied at install time. Policy is authoritative and cannot be overridden by an operator.

What is recorded in the audit log?

Actor, action, subject reference, outcome and correlation id โ€” never document content, biometric data or credentials.

Is the desktop agent related to the web platform?

It is a separate product with its own release cycle. It consumes the documented agent API and shares no runtime with the web platform.
